Modifications in summer 2016

These modifications do not result in another scanner type, but to bundle all the modifications, the terms SCAN_II, MIDI_II and DESK_II was created and are used internally.

Modifications, named as “SMD_II” are done in all SCAN, MIDI and DESK scanners.

Scanners, delivered since summer 2016 including all the improvements and modifications; appropriate replaced units, used in previous versions are no longer delivered in produced scanners but may be delivered as spare part for existing scanners.

Features

·          Since 2016 on the market

·          The slides are hold in magazines with 25 slide positions

·          6 magazines can be hold in the input and output stack during 1 session.

·          Designed for brightfield an fluorescent scan sessions.

·          By using BF RGB illumination, the brightfield scan process can be done with a monochrome scan camera.

·          By using a monochrome scan camera for BF scan also, the camera changer and a separate FL scan camera is no longer required.

·          The scan speed depends highly on the used computer configuration and the speed of the camera.

·          Today, all references to the SCAN, SCAN_II referring to this version of scanner.

Allowed slide dimensions are defined as

                                      Length:          75.00 to 76.00 mm

                                      Width:            25.00 to 26.00 mm

                                      Thickness:    00.95 to 01.20 mm

The SCAN exists in a full version (SCAN_II_FL) where the Reflector turret unit is included and a more cost-effective version (SCAN _II_BF) without the Reflector turret unit, so only brightfield scan sessions are possible.

Improvements in Pannoramic SCAN since summer 2016

·        X-Y-Stage improved to reduce noise and vibration

·        RGB BF illumination allows higher scan speeds while higher resolution

·        Specimen holder modified, so slides of single width and a thickness of max 1.20mm can be inserted

·        Focus unit modified to scan slides with a thickness if 1.20mm

·        Using 5-Phase stepper motors reduces vibration during scanning

·        Thanks the modification of BF illumination, camera changer and a different FL scan camera is no longer required.

More detailed information can be found in the appropriate unit

Magazine, used in the Pannoramic SCAN_II

·       The magazine type is the same as in the SCAN and the P250.

·       A gear on the rear of the magazine allows the movement of the magazine in the feeder channel.

·       The permanent magnet is used to detect the presence of a magazine in the input stack and the state “Output stack full” in the output stack (P250 only).

·       By filling magazines in the input stack and continuously removing finished magazines from the output stack during the scan session is in progress, a “Continuous mode” of the scan session can be performed.

·       To reduce the amount of different magazines, the construction of the magazine for SCAN and P250 is identical, but the permanent magnet acts only in the P250.
