Modifications in summer 2016

These modifications do not result in another scanner type, but to bundle all the modifications, the terms SCAN_II, MIDI_II and DESK_II was created and are used internally.

Modifications, named as “S_M_D_II” are done in all SCAN, MIDI and DESK scanners.

Scanners, delivered since summer 2016 including all the following improvements and modifications; appropriate replaced units, used in previous versions are no longer delivered in produced scanners but may be delivered as spare part for existing scanners.

Features

For small pathology laboratories, a small and compact scanner, the Pannoramic DESK version was created.

This scanner contains in practice a scanner unit only and the slides are inserted or exchanged manually; the fluorescent illumination unit (Reflector turret unit) is left out.

Since 2016 on the market

·                   The slides are inserted and removed manually via the slide door.

·                   Used in small laboratories with a small amount of slides to be scanned.

·                   Designed for brightfield scan sessions only.

·                   The scan speed depends highly on the used computer configuration and the speed of the camera.

                  Allowed slide dimensions are

Single width

Length:                75.00 to 76.00mm

Width:                  25.00 to 26.00mm

Thickness:          00.95 to 01.20mm

Double width

Length:                75.00 to 76.00mm

Width:                  50.00 to 51.00mm

Thickness:          00.95 to 01.20mm

Improvements in Pannoramic DESK since summer 2016

·        Housing width increased by nearly twice.

·        X-Y-Stage improved to reduce  noise, vibration and resonance

·        RGB BF illumination allows higher scan speeds while higher resolution

·        Specimen holder modified, so slides with single width and double width and a thickness of max 1.20mm can be inserted

·        Focus unit modified to scan slides with a thickness if 1.20mm

·        Using 5-Phase stepper motors reduces vibration during scanning
