Teleconsultation Offline teleconsultationWith E-School you get a powerful tool to help you in your teaching duties. This is another function that virtual microscopy has compared to traditional microscopy. In routine practice, different results can be obtained using different stainings.Tissue microarrays (TMA) represent a fairly new invention in routine pathology, a solution you can use effectively only with virtual microscopy.Sometimes viewing a specimen in two dimensions is not enough. With fluorescent microscopy a whole new way is opened in the diagnostic process.Virtual microscopy is based upon digital data.

Chairmen's Welcome

Dear Colleague,

In association with 3DHISTECH, we are honored to invite You to the satellite symposium “Digital Histology” held in conjunction with the 27th Congress of the International Academy of Pathology in Athens, Greece.

Virtual microscopy has become well-established in the last few years in academic, research and pharmaceutical institutions. Starting with simple slide scanning through the virtualization of digital slides routine applications have appeared and became a reality for the pathology community.
The pioneers in digital microscopy can now report about their experiences in these fields.

The symposium will address key areas of discussion relating to:
• applications of virtual microscopy in digital histology institutions
• digital education and training in pathology
• experiences with digital slide scanner technologies
• TMA evaluation and validation using digital histology
• opportunities for routine sign-out
• digital imaging of multichannel fluorescent samples

Interactive case studies will be used to highlight key topic areas and allow audience participation meanwhile supporting routine data will be also discussed.
We look forward to welcoming You to what is set to be a very exciting meeting to one we are sure You will find very informative.
